Despite his best efforts to move into media work and interact with fans Kris Boyd is finding success as elusive as goals outside of Scotland.

The Kilmarnock ace is of course the world record scorer in the SPL having spent close to 20 years playing at that level while most decent strikers moved on and scored in bigger leagues and also in the Champions League.

Unfortunately for Boyd his experience of the Champions League was from the Ibrox bench as he watch Walter Smith park the bus.

Social media is just as difficult for Boyd, after posting a picture of Hartson before failing his Ibrox medical he asked ‘Who would have wanted to see the big man in a gers shirt?”

Showing the same instinct he showed in the penalty box Hartson replied with ‘Best medical I ever failed!!’

In his long and glorious playing career Boyd has managed ONE goal against Celtic, a mis-kick in 2007 at Ibrox after Gordon Strachan’s side had wrapped up the title.

Trying to have a dig at John Hartson on Instagram Boyd decided to dig out a picture of the Welshman arriving at Ibrox for signing talks in 2000.

After being hammered 6-2 by Celtic David Murray responded with moves for Hartson and de Boer who would both receive massive Discount Option Scheme payments to compensate for small basic wages.

The Discount Option Scheme was used by de Boer and Tore Andre Flo and resulted in the wee tax case which was for £2.8m and was still unpaid when Rangers went into liquidation.

While de Boer sailed through his medical and went on to start 17 SPL matches ‘shattered’ Hartson returned to Wimbledon having been declared a crock by Murray, clearly a subject of amusement for Boyd.

The following season the super fit Dutchman started 19 SPL matches before switching his payments over to an EBT which stashed away £1.2m ‘tax free’.

Hartson did return to Glasgow 12 months later, passed his Celtic medical, scored 20 goals in his debut season and starred in the thrilling European campaigns under Martin O’Neill.

Hartson scored 109 goals for Celtic while paying HMRC in full, de Boer scored 40 goals for Rangers (IL) while having millions tucked into the DOS and EBT tax scams.

Boyd picked up a £215,000 EBT
