When can Celtic win the league?

After Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Rangers there will be no title party at Ibrox with Celtic on looking certain to clinch the SPFL title away from home.

Assuming that Aberdeen keep on winning, as they have recently with very few exceptions, Derek McInnes’ side can reach 90 points.

With Celtic currently on 85 they can reach that mark on Sunday April 2 away to Hearts at Tynecastle- the ground that Celtic started their Premiership campaign at.

For that to happen Aberdeen need to win at home to Hearts this Saturday then away at Dens Park on Friday 31st March with Celtic winning this Sunday at Dundee.

If Aberdeen lose at home to Hearts Celtic can be out of reach by winning at Dens Park on Sunday.

If Celtic and Aberdeen both win at the weekend the ‘race’ goes on a fortnight due to the international break.

Aberdeen would then have to win or draw at Dens Park to keep the title race alive, if they lose Celtic would be champions without kicking a ball.

A point for Aberdeen away to Dundee leaves Celtic needing a draw at Hearts to clinch the title, a win for McInnes’ side means that Celtic need to win away to Hearts to make it 6-in-a-row.

Should those circumstances not play out the hoops will then be at home to Partick Thistle on Wednesday April 5, the same night that Sky Sports are covering Kilmarnock’s visit from Sevco.
