Pedro’s tales

Brother Pedro hit a full house as he went through Sevco bingo on day one at Ibrox.

The fifth best coach in Qatar is in town to sell season tickets to the gullible and no one is going to stop him.

All the key points were touched in a direct appeal to the bank accounts of supporters with emotions high and detail light.

It was all there in spades. The best squad in Scotland, the most successful club in the world and a pledge to bring back the great European night.

Just the sort of nonsense that you’d get from Craig Whyte, Charles Green, Dave King or Mark Warburton.

With some name dropping of Jose Mourinho and other high profile links the journeyman’s journeyman was in his element with a three and a half year contract signed and sealed just before his deal in Qatar expired.

There was no mention of budgets, nothing on investment not even a new contract for Kenny Miller but the feel-good factor was there even though the Premiership title is beyond the company as they lag 33 points behind Celtic with ten matches left to play.

With Aberdeen a strong second eight points into the distance Brother Pedro has his work cut out living up to yesterday’s empty boasts.

BEST SQUAD IN SCOTLAND

Caixinha got to meet some of the players yesterday, with only three players out of contract the new Ibrox boss has no option other than to get the best out of his inheritance from Mark Warburton.

Despite a record of just 13 wins from 28 Premiership fixtures Brother Pedro sees the hidden qualities of Andy Halliday, Martyn Waghorn and Rod Kiernan.

“For us, this is the best squad in Scotland so we are going to work with the best squad in Scotland, we just need to give them that confidence,” he told The Sun.

“I met some of the players this morning. It was a good impression in the first moment, but we need to establish a relationship with them.

“I am a guy about relations. I do believe relations can make the difference and that is what we are going to do from the beginning.”

BIGGEST CLUB IN SCOTLAND

Ignoring a five year history that includes the 2016 Petrofac Cup and little else Pedro went straight for the jackpot.
Recent cup exits from Alloa, Queen of the South, Forfar and Raith Rovers seem to have escaped Mourinho’s mate as he gave the punters the words that comfort them through every misfortune.

“The task is to make Rangers bigger than it is, to try and achieve something we haven’t achieved,” he told The Sun in a hint towards parading the European Cup through Larkhall and Kilwinning.

“To try and give a stability to the club in all levels, in all structures. And to get it on the way in order to be unstoppable.

“This is for sure the biggest club in Scotland. I want to help them come back in this situation and go from there. I always believe in the players who work with me on a daily basis.”

SCOTTISH FOOTBALL NEEDS A STRONG RANGERS

When almost every other argument fails apparently Scottish football needs a strong Rangers!

Try telling that to supporters of St Johnstone, Inverness Caley Thistle, St Mirren and Ross County who’ve celebrated trophy successes since the financially doped Rangers were put into liquidation.

No other club has gone into liquidation since 2012, they live within their means and take success or failure for what it is. There is no need for a deluded cheating club from Ibrox to put them in their place.

Speaking to the Daily Record Brother Pedro claims: “I hope we are going to be champions next season but only time will tell. Scottish football needs a strong Rangers and a strong Rangers is only one that is fighting for titles.

“So that’s what we will try to do. We know we are going to get to the top. That’s what we are here for. The challenge is to rebuild the past glory.”
