Scott Brown believes that Kieran Tierney would be his ideal replacement as Celtic skipper.

The current captain has kept a close eye on the teenager as he has developed through from the youth side into an integral part of the first team.

Both players even share the same dress sense and can be seen all year round training or warming up in t-shirt and shorts.

Brown has no intention of hanging up his boots or stepping down as captain but when asked on the Ladbrokes Football Show for a successor had no hesitation in picking out his 19-year-old team mate.

I think Celtic fans would love KT to stay around when I retire and to still be playing,” Brown said. “Kieran is a natural leader and a die-hard Celtic fan.

He knows about winning games at Celtic Park, to go away, and what it means for his friends and family. He would be the one for me.”

Mikael Lustig is the stand-in captain and led the side in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Partick Thistle while Stuart Armstrong has also worn the armband this season.

Brown and Tierney sat out the 1-1 draw with Thistle but are expected to be back in the team to face Kilmarnock tomorrow as Rodgers begins the build up to the Scottish Cup semi-final against Sevco on April 23 at Hampden.
