Eboue Kouassi has admitted that one of his first Celtic performances was catastrophic!
The teenage midfielder signed in January from Krasnodar but had his debut delayed by a mild case of malaria.
In his second appearance as a Celt, away to Dundee last month, he replaced Callum McGregor in the 68th minute but struggled to make any impact and collected a booking for his efforts.
Adapting to the demands of Scottish football has caught out a number of imports in the past, for a teenager from the Ivory Coast moving to Scotland from Russia the problems are multiplied as he adaps into a completely new environment.
“There is not a big difference between Scottish and Russian football as both are physical and fast,” he told the Celtic website. “At the start I had a lot of time to watch and I remember one of my first games away to Dundee when I came on and it was a bit catastrophic! But I learned from that and now I feel a lot better.
“I feel ready to start games. I have worked for this but it all depends on the gaffer and I will wait until he gives me my chance and then I will play.”
Kouassi started the home draw with Partick Thistle on April 5 but has still to complete his first 90 minutes as a Celtic player.
The 19-year-old was the only signing that Brendan Rodgers made during the January transfer window and is expected to push for a first team place next season.
