Last night he watched his mates from the stand at Hampden, on Sunday 25,000 Celtic fans marvelled at Kieran Tierney’s performance as Celtic reached the final of the Scottish Cup.

Whatever the occasion, whatever the level KT knows what it means to be Celtic.

At 19 years of age he has the world at his feet and he’s loving every minute of it.

The dream of making his debut quickly moved on to becoming a regular, now he’s an integral part of a Celtic side closing in on history.

Rarely has it felt so good to be a Celtic fan with the Wishaw bhoy well aware of the joy and excitement that the supporters are feeling as the season reaches it’s closing weeks.

Of course I know what last weekend meant to the fans,” he told The Sun. “Coming to a game like that, especially as a Celtic fan, I knew how much it meant to everybody.

It’s about concentrating on your own game and making sure you don’t get hyped-up.

Don’t play the occasion and don’t go into any rash tackles straight away or anything like that.

You just have to stay calm and relaxed and thankfully the boys managed to do that. You have to be controlled and professional. Obviously you can go in hard at all times but you just have to be fair and make sure you don’t get any silly bookings or sent off.

In the build-up to the game last week everywhere you turned, whether on Facebook or whatever, there were always Celtic fans wishing you well.

He added: “I grew up the same as them. You see them everywhere so there is that added pressure. but the whole week before the cup game we just tried to stay away from pressure and not read into it too much.

I felt over the 90 minutes we looked fit. You go into these games where it’s hyped up and obviously you might get a wee bit tired earlier than normal but I thought we looked stronger and fitter than Rangers.

To get that win last weekend and to reward the fans was great. Hopefully on Saturday they will get another reward.”

After last night’s visit to Hampden as a fan Tierney will be back at training this morning preparing for Saturday’s final derby clash of the season as the clock ticks down towards the Scottish Cup Final against Aberdeen.
