Michael O’Halloran’s future at Ibrox is in doubt with his absence from a Development League match being treated to Fran Sandaza’s notorious interview with Tommy the taxi driver.

The former St Johnstone winger was dropped from the bench for Sunday’s match away to Aberdeen then told that he would be playing in the Development League match against Hearts on Monday night.

When he failed to report for the team bus and failed to respond to phone calls Sevco had to change their team and won the match without O’Halloran.

Both the Daily Record and the Sun go big on the story today suggesting that there will be consequences for the player signed from St Johnstone just over a year ago for £300,000.

At most clubs this sort of matter wouldn’t get into the public domain but the way that this is being handled has echoes of the Sandaza case.

In September when Joey Barton was sent home from training after a bust up with Mark Warburton it took more than three days for the story to surface, conveniently shortly after a Warbo media conference had ended.

In his first season at Ibrox the Spanish goal ace was the victim of a prank phone call from someone pretending to be a football agent.

Sandaza discussed details of his salary and contract while talking over a possible move to the USA with the interview later broadcast online.

Most folk thought that the striker had been the victim in the incident but Sevco binned the player, cancelling a four year contract although a compensation payment was later enforced by the SFA,

O’Halloran returned to training with the first team on Tuesday and is under contract until 2020.
