In twenty-four words Brendan Rodgers spelt out exactly how happy he is with Celtic.
“There is not a place I could be in this world right now where I’d be happier in my football life and personal life,” he stated yesterday at Tynecastle.
For Celtic fans marvelling at how well he had turned the squad around those words were the icing on the cake of a great day.
For those pundits, mainly on the payroll of Sky Sports, hoping that their opinions could plant seeds of doubt into Rodgers mind that his life won’t be complete until he returns to England, with Arsenal the great white hope, it must have sounded like a blow to the heart.
Rodgers is happy, very happy, working at the club he supported as a kid with his family and the dream isn’t turning sour.
What he has discovered inside Celtic has impressed him, professionally the club is well run with a few tweeks to his way of thinking. He doesn’t need to pass his ideas through a recruitment committee.
If there’s something he needs it tends to get done.
He won’t be spending £30m this summer on a 27-year-old striker from the middle of the Spanish or Portuguese League and he can live with that burden.
He can spend around £5m on someone he feels can do a job for Celtic in the Champions League- at a push he could go a few million higher.
Rodgers is very very happy at Celtic, he’ll be here next season and probably the one after as well- live with it
