Dozy Barry Ferguson knows why he didn’t get the Sevco number three job- he told Brother Pedro that he was after his job!

Not only that but the former Clyde boss has confessed all to the Daily Record!

It almost reads like an April Fool story as RRM explains how he lost out due to his own honesty.

After cashing in on his £2.5m EBT showing the same honesty to HMRC could prove very expensive for the Radio Scotland pundit.

The quest for a RRM eventually went to a guy that was brought up in Finland, started less than 50 games for the old club and spent the best days of his career in London.

After going public about their applications it must be a sore feeling for Alex Rae, Ferguson and John Brown to have missed out.

In his Daily Record column Ferguson explained: “I may have not have gone for many job interviews in my life but even I knew this was the moment my chances of a role on Pedro Caixinha’s coaching staff might have hit a bit of a buffer.

But I’ll tell you this much, if I was back in that office this morning and asked again where I saw myself in five years, I would say the exact same thing.

Of course I want to be the manager of Rangers one day. I would have been lying to the man’s face if I said any different. Look, I don’t know if that had anything to do with his final decision.”

Later on Ferguson added: “There was a point when he asked me about my hopes and ambitions for the future and I looked him in the eye and told him the truth. One day I hope to be the manager of Rangers. There’s no point lying about it, that’s my ultimate aim.

If I was going to work with Pedro then I didn’t see the point in starting off on the wrong foot or in being dishonest. It was important that he knew he was dealing with someone who would give him the truth.

Did that cost me my chance of getting the job? I’ll probably never know the answer.

But the truth is, for whatever reason, I left the meeting feeling pretty sure that I wasn’t his cup of tea.”

Having admitted to his ultimate ambition it’s unlikely that Ferguson will get a management job in Scotland anytime soon. His record managing Clyde won’t be touched by any club in England.
