Celtic turned on the style to demolish Hearts 5-0 and clinch the SPFL title for the sixth consecutive time.
Even a combination of brutal decisions from the match officials and industrial tackling from the home side couldn’t deny the hoops as they clinched the title in style.
Callum McGregor already had the ball in the net before Scott Sinclair struck a double midway through the first half to deflate Ian Cathro’s side.
The assistant referee managed to disallow a Hearts own goal early in the second half but there was nothing that they could do to stop a low 20 yarder from Stuart Armstrong finding the net in the 55th minute with Patrick Roberts curling in an outstanding shot six minutes later.
Sinclair wasn’t to be denied his hat-trick however and after being chopped down in the 84th minute he got up to slot away from the penalty spot.
With eight games left to play Celtic are 25 points ahead of Aberdeen and 35 clear of the best squad in Scotland.
He has come to lead the green and white
A year
A year ago the notion of Brendan Rodgers managing Celtic would have been laughed at but bhoy has he come to lead the green and white.
From day one it’s been on the front foot with the same message. Unlike other good communicators Rodgers also delivers results, he assesses things, makes changes, takes account of circumstances and barely makes a bad call.
He’s one of our own, he likes it here and it looks like Celtic are matching his amitions.
It’s Broony lite- or diet Broony
DDIt’s been an in and out season for the Londoner but there is no disguising class.
Roberts has it in spades as he demonstrated with goal number four- a Scott Sinclair type effort from the other win.
While others debate and ponder the moment Roberts has medals and memories from his time at Celtic- if he’s back again next tear for seven-in-a-rop no one will  be complaining.
They’ve only known Celtic as champions
It’s not a bad time to be a young Celtic fan- these two probably couldn’t spell EBT or remember the seasons when Celtic were cheated out of trophies.
Martin O’Neill and Henrik Larsson are for old fogies, who needs them when you have Brendan Rodgers and Scotty Sinclair- it’s wonderful.
Hopefully they’ll soon be celebrating a treble, if this side completes the season unbeaten then they’ll rightfully be listed alongside the other legendary hoops.
KT and the young team
GHe’s becoming an old timer at these sort of things, KT and his pals have got five SPFL title medals between themselves.
There’s a good few more to come for KT and Callum, I think in his heart Roberts wants to be around for some more but that’ll be up to Celtic and City to sort out.
With their pace and ability these bhoys would always go far in the game- they’ve also got the will to win that is essential in Celtic players- not so essential elsewhere.
Broony with his bhoys
It’s been a special year for the skipper, now it looks like he has a young team around him on the same wavelength.
A year ago, like most in this picture it looked all over with a new broom needed to clear things out- the new broom just tidied things up and revived the players he had to work with.
Whatever was said when Brendan invited Broony for dinner certainly worked, they may seem an unlikely couple but the boss and the skipper are delivering the trophies in style.
Who fancies another one next year?
KThe celebrations vary from season to season but as long as they are wearing green and white no one minds.
It’s great times to be a Celt and this group of players appreciate that they are part of something different and special.
James Forrest, Scott Brown, Mikael Lustig and Emilio Izaguirre have been involved in a few before, I’m sure that there’ll be a few more to follow!
Good times for hats n scarves
It’s not good enough to have a scarf with CHAMPIONS on it. it has to be 6-in-a-row.
Over the next few weeks these guys will do a roaring business with plenty to look forward to and celebrate.
After last seasons tribulations the away support have been treated this season, winning 5-0 at Tynecastle is to be treasured as the home fans that decided to turn up slowly trickled away to leave the hoops to party.
Have some of that
HIt’s not been a bad season for this bhoy- he’s almost scoring as regularly as Scotty Sinclair.
Today he was a bit quieter than usual but when given a chance he knew what to do and drilled a low shot into the net with the Hearts keeper despairing.
With double figures reached he could end up close to the 20 mark for the season, despite being second choice at the start of the season he has flourished.
Sinclair scores the second
He seems to enjoy himself at Tynecastle- as you would scoring the winner on your debut and with a title clinching hat-trick.
At Dundee a fortnight ago he perhaps looked a bit jaded, today he was sparkling and looking on form for the run in to the season, after missing out on the Betfred Cup win over Aberdeen he’ll be keen er than anyone to get his hands on the Scottish Cup- and maybe another signed match ball.
Ten in a row
There’s no doubting the togetherness and team spirit of this side, the team that Brendan built.
Of the starting XI today only Scott Sinclair was signed by Brendan Rodgers- this is the text book of management how one man can transform 11 individuals and make them better as a team.
They win and draw as a team, if they get through the season unbeaten with three trophies they’ll be quite a team.
