In November he was telling shareholders that they were the biggest club in Scotland.

Yesterday Mark Warburton was able to tell the truth. Not the full truth, that will be held back for his legal action, but from the comfort of the Nottingham Forest managers chair he was able to deliver some thoughts on his time at Ibrox.

Warbo is now referred to as ‘the former Rangers manager’ with his low key career as a city trader of little interest to Forest fans.

Speaking to The Telegraph the former Ibrox boss admitted: “Some of the Rangers fans are magnificent but the expectation is hard because it’s very difficult for them to accept their club not being at the top of Scottish football and fighting European campaigns. But it was a fantastic experience and it can’t be taken away from me.

I’ve read a lot of things [since leaving] that we’re supposed to have done and said that I know aren’t true. I’m not going to get drawn into an argument, we’ve kept our counsel and I hope the real story comes out.”

Warbo was informed by email that he had resigned from the managers’ job at Ibrox along with David Weir.

Following that announcement Dave King issued a statement that effectively trashed the reputation of Warbo which prompted a statement from the League Managers Association defending their member.

In July 2016 Warbo and Weir signed new three year contracts that they will attempt to get the company to honour.
