Andy Halliday got off with one of the most outrageous and brutal challenges seen on a football park with an amazing attempt to put Patrick Roberts out of the game.
After waving play on Willie Collum didn’t even speak to the Ibrox utility man as he waved a yellow card in the air at no one in particular.
With Myles Beerman siding in late and dangerous to knock Roberts out of his stride Halliday launched himself in what can only be described as an outrageous lunge that seemed far more intent on striking the player than the ball.
The challenge was similar in intent to the two footed lunge that Kenny Miller made on Stuart Armstrong and Jason Holt’s scissors foul on Roberts during last month’s derby match which was drawn 1-1.

When young players fail to develop or emerge in the Scottish game the powers that be should take a close look at that challenge, plus Ryan Bowman’s foul on Kieran Tierney if they are serious about the game.
The Laws of the Game don’t change for the first ten minutes, if Halliday had been red carded there could be no complaints, and perhaps one day young talent might see the light of day in Scottish football.
