It perhaps never quite matched the heights of their Barcelona display but this afternoon’s Tifo from the Green Brigade was trending worldwide on social media.
A collection at the turn of the year had raised the funds for the display with an army of volunteers putting the display together at the end of the week.
As the fans filtered into Celtic Park they found a small plastic sheet tied to their seat to parade as the team entered the park.
Hearts formed a guard of honour to salute the champions as Scott Brown led his side out to be greeted by a 60,000 strong special welcome.
It all came together perfectly. The Jock Stein Stand had a silver European Cup, the North Stand spelt out Lisbon Lions while the Lisbon Lions Stand commemorated the 50th anniversary of the club’s greatest day.

Every social network was flooded with images as a global audience of millions celebrated again the achievements of Jock Stein’s amazing side.
We’ll never see another team like it but the current lot haven’t been too shabby, beating Hearts 2-0 to complete their SPFL season unbeaten with 34 wins and four draws as they reached 106 points scoring 106 goals in the process.
