Chris Sutton believes that the original Demolition Derby of 2000 was the greatest ever match in the SPL.

Celtic fans have enjoyed another two Demolition Derbies this season which should ensure record sales for the end of season DVD.

Earlier today the SPFL twitter account claimed that a 6-6 draw between Motherwell and Hibs was the greatest ever match with Sutton quick to disagree.

Back in August 2000 Celtic had gone almost two years without a win against Dave Murray’s tax dodgers as Martin O’Neill prepared his side for the visit of Dick Advocaat’s.

Sutton scored the first and last goals of the match with the six goals in-between having a drastic effect on the Scottish game.

Celtic went on their win to win the title before the split, pick up the domestic treble while Murray turned to the illegal Discount Option Scheme to reinforce his squad.

Within a week of the 6-2 defeat Ronald de Boer had signed up to the tax scam with Tore Andre Flo recruited in November 2000.

Just over a decade later with HMRC pressing for the tax to be repaid Rangers FC were put into liquidation.
