The officially endorsed Sevco fans group Club 1872, has accused Celtic players of provoking racist attacks, pitch invaders and an array of missiles being thrown at them during last Saturday’s demolition derby at Ibrox.

The astonishing claims are made in The Sun today through spokesman Craig Houston. Rather than question and condemn Houston for justifying the acts The Sun put the accusations to Leigh Griffiths to defend the Celtic players.

Sevco, the SFA, SPFL and Celtic haven’t commented on the shameful scenes at Ibrox which suggests that anything goes as long as the ‘Old Firm’ circus is on the calendar.

The Sun reports spokesman Craig Houston said: “Alleged racist taunts, fans encroaching on the field of play and objects thrown on to the pitch are obviously situations that shouldn’t happen at a football match.

We believe that these issues, along with players taunting opposition fans during the majority of goal celebrations and vandalism in the stands, will all be dealt with in an appropriate and timely manner by the proper authorities.”

Sandy Chugg, who runs the Sons of Struth group alongwith Houston has had two life bans from Ibrox.

While Houston and groups like Club 1872 are given publicity it sends a message to the thousands involved in celebrating their hatred of Catholics that their actions can be justified and explained.

So far Police Scotland have charged TWO fans for racist gestures at Scott Sinclair and one for invading the pitch to confront Scott Brown.

Responding to the accusations that the Celtic celebrations had been partly responsible for the thuggish reactions of season ticket holders Leigh Griffiths said:

There was no question of goading the fans. If you goad fans you will get booked, it’s as simple as that.

We were at the edge of the pitch.

We didn’t go over the hoardings or anything like that — not until the second half when we scored at the other end, in front of the Celtic fans.

I think if the shoe was on the other foot and the Rangers players did that at our place, there wouldn’t be any qualms from us.”
