Brother Pedro is about to tell several Sevco stars that their Ibrox careers are over.

The new Ibrox boss will be in for a shock if he thinks that any of those players will be moving on without getting paid off in full.

Only Clint Hill and Pip Senderos are out of contract at the end of the season with the bulk of the players on long term deals.

While Brother Pedro may not rate them he’ll find that Andy Halliday, Jason Holt, Micky O’Halloran, Josh Windass and Matt Crooks are all signed up until 2020.

As he gets used to life in the UK the fifth best coach in Qatar may discover that it’s easier to get rid of coaches than players, if he needs any proof he should contact former city trader Mark Warburton.

In an interview with the club television station Ped said: “We have been assessing for a long time and because I am someone who leads by example, I want all our players to know that I will shake his hand and say, ‘Thank you, but our time ends here,’ or I will say, ‘Let’s keep going’.

I will start those conversations next week. As I always say, we work until the last day and treat it like it’s the first one.

We are professionals. For example, even when I am about to end a contract my job is to do my very best until the end.

You’re still defending the badge and you still have a contract with the club.

We are professionals, we all live for football, we all live for Rangers and we also all live for winning.”

Brother Pedro may have more than a badge to defend on Sunday if his side fail to beat Partick Thistle at Firhill.

Despite the soothing sound bites and constant references to history and dignity some fans are starting to see through their rookie boss- as the players clearly can.

Rows about a six day working week and cutting back on summer holidays are among the problems that Pedro has created.

When it comes to telling players to move on he’ll find agents, lawyers and the Scottish PFA highlighting the details in contracts- something that Brother Pedro would be well advised to look over on his own deal.
