Jozo Simunovic played it low key as he picked up the eighth major trophy of his career.

The 22-year-old had even enjoyed an unbeaten league campaign previously with Dinamo Zagreb to compare this season with.

Simunovic was close to missing out entirely when he travelled to Turin at the end of August to complete a transfer to the Serie A side.

Fortunately the Torino medical team decided to hold back, when they tried to get a loan move set up dependent on the player proving his fitness Celtic called things off and brought the defender back to Glasgow.

Firstly with Erik Sviatchenko then with Dedryck Boyata, Simunovic has asserted himself into the Celtic side with the key moment coming in the 5-1 win over Sevco at Ibrox.

As Kenny Miller saw the Croat preparing to challenge for a 50-50 ball the Ibrox veteran took evasive action.

From the moment Miller’s neck hit the deck Jozo was a Celtic favourite.

Dining off that moment he now has the chance to make it trophy number nine next Saturday, the fourth of his Celtic career, when the hoops face Aberdeen in the final of the Scottish Cup at Hampden.
