Chris Sutton was quick off the mark after Derek McInnes turned down the chance to manage Sunderland.
With master negotiator Martin Bain calling in Walter Smith to head hunt the man to lead Sunderland back to the Premier League it’s hardly a surprise that the move fell through.
Sevco chief Pedro Caixinha had predicted the end of a cycle of success for Aberdeen before seeing his side turned over at Ibrox and finish nine points behind the Dons in third place.
Mcinnes staying at Aberdeen is great for the Scottish game????

With over £1m coming in to Pittodrie from the sale of Jonny Hayes, the return of Ryan Christie and last season’s prize money McInnes will be in a position to build on last season’s treble of second prizes.
Aberdeen had reluctantly given Sunderland permission to discuss the vacancy with McInnes after agreeing a compensation fee close to £1m.
Sunderland fans are now dreading the prospect of Ally McCoist taking over a manager with the former Question of Sport funnyman well connected to Bain and Smith.
