Termination time

After a day of reflection and a review of Dave King’s awkward performance at yesterday’s hastily arranged Ibrox media conference there is only one conclusion to be made- it was a termination deal.

The impact of King’s decision to ignore the ruling from the Takeover Appeal Board really is far reaching with Sports Direct ensuring that they aren’t caught out in the fall out.

No one knows the internal workings of Sevco better than Mike Ashley’s legal team.

Rather than pursue the South African based criminal for money that they will never see an exit strategy has been hatched.

Being associated with King and his concert party board of directors is not something that a blue chip company wants to have on it’s record.

By giving Sevco a slightly better deal and a clear exit King can tell the hordes that he has secured a victory for the power of the blue pound with Sports Direct able to shift whatever stock that has been gathering dust during the boycott.

Now that King thinks he has got his way he can glibly negotiate with other retailers to distribute and stock the toxic brand.

The first question- if he gets an audience or reply- will be what happened to the old deal.

Like him or not Ashley runs a respected well run business, when King explains the reasons for the end of the Sports Direct contract he may be politely shown the door. Maybe it will be less politely.

It seems that Sports Direct have also agreed a deal to sell their shares, this will again be trumpeted as another victory for people power.

As they sit around feeling happy with themselves in last season’s Puma/32 Red kit the people can brace themselves for the full impact of yesterday’s announcement as their shameless leader leads them off the edge of a cliff.
