Craig Whyte has thanked the people of Glasgow for their kind wishes throughout his recent fraud trial.

The former billionaire was in the dock accused of buying Rangers (IL) through fraud when many folk believed that it should have been the seller that was being charged.

For his pound coin, which thankfully he never actually paid, Sir Craig inherited £18m of Lloyds Bank debt, £2.8m owed to HMRC, an urgent £1.9m stadium safety bill, Ally McCoist and his incredible contract and the demand to beat a Celtic side that was solvent enough to pay their bills on time.

Dave Murray slipped under the radar for many as the dream collapsed with McCoist’s limitations exposed in a Champions League second round qualifier to Malmo.

Adding insult to injury the former Question of Sport skipper then saw his side crash out of the Europa League play-off to Maribor.

Within a month Sheriff Officers were at the front door for the £2.8m wee tax case with the club failing to pass on National Insurance and Income Tax as the business plan hatched by Murray collapsed.

In February 2012 Whyte put the club into administration with liquidation and 139 years of shame ending in June when the liquidation process began.
