Sevco can now fork out £3.9m to sign the Mexican duo of Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera.

According to a report in the Daily Record both players have been cleared by the SFA to move to Ibrox despite being as close to the Mexican national side as James Tavernier is to a game for Gareth Southgate tomorrow at Hampden.

Pena is believed to be costing £2.7m while Herrera will cost £1.2m with their Mexican clubs delighted by the fees.

How the cash is paid is another matter with Norwich cutting off talks for the transfer of Graham Dorrans after Sevco offered to make three payments of £250,000 over a 24 month period.

Despite the spending spree on Latin talent Pedro Caixinha has still to shift any of the players that he inherited from Mark Warburton.

With the bulk of the squad under contract until 2019 and 2020 it is unlikely that there will be similar terms on offer elsewhere for stars like Andy Halliday, Micky O’Halloran and Harry Forrester.

In 2016 Sevco reported turnover of £22.2m, the transfer fees for the Mexican duo equates to 17.5% of that figure.
