Honest guy Pedro Caixinha refused to discuss Barry McKay’s exile to the reserves as he prepared for Sevco’s Europa League qualifier against Progres Niederkorn of Luxemburg.

The £6m rated winger won’t be involved in tonight’s match and has been banished from the first team squad.

Caixinha has been happy to discuss the demise of Aberdeen and various other subjects that suit his agenda but wouldn’t be drawn on why McKay won’t be involved tonight.

Nothing, he is not in the squad,” he replied to the Daily Record when asked about McKay’s omission. “The under-20s were off so he is not training today.

“I’m not focusing on that situation. I’m focusing on tomorrow’s match. We’re really happy all the players and the team regarding to the plan we have for this season are working hard.

“They are really anxious in a good way to start the match tomorrow with a sold-out stadium and enjoy it with our fans.

“I don’t care about those problems (the situation with McKay). Those problems are part of our lives, our work and our decisions but I don’t want to talk about it now.”

McKay has twelve months left on his current contract and rejected a new offer in February that would have paid him less than half of Jordan Rossiter’s weekly wage.

A u-turn from either party seems unlikely with the 22-year-old sticking it out until January when he can sign a pre-contract agreement elsewhere that will give Sevco a small factor of his wages in compensation.
