Brendan Rodgers believes that his next Celtic signing will deliver power, strength and quality.

At the weekend Celtic are expected to sign Kundai Benyu from Ipswich once his contract expires but there is one big name that Rodgers has his eyes on.

Quality rather than quantity is the motivation in the transfer market with only Jonny Hayes added to last season’s treble winning squad.

Asked about Benyu after the 1-0 win over BW Linz Rodgers told The Sun: “He’s a young player there’s a possibility with.

Other than that, if I get the next signing in I’ll be really happy.

It will give us great power and strength as well as quality. Then we can push on and wait and see what becomes available.”

The hoops boss was satisfied with his side’s 1-0 win over the Austrian side thanks to a late goal from James Forrest.

Competitive action resumes in a fortnight when Celtic take on Linfield or La Fiorita in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.

The champions of north eastern Ireland won the home leg 1-0 last night thanks to an 89th minute goal giving La Fiorita every incentive in the return leg to book a clash with Celtic with the first leg taking place in San Marino.
