Former Celtic transfer target James McCarthy is available for transfer at a cool £25m!
Towards the end of last summer’s transfer window there was intense speculation that the Everton man was wanted by Brendan Rodgers.
The Irish internationalist was pictured in Glasgow the weekend before the transfer window closed but no business was done.
Signing players from English football is a costly business with the Daily Mail reporting Everton pricing McCarthy at £25m when Leicester made an enquiry.
Everton have been on a spending spree since with former Celtic target Henry Onyekuru one of Koeman’s recent signings.
With those sort of valuations going around it’s unlikely that Celtic will be signing any established Premier League players with their wage demands in line with the transfer fees.
Everton paid Wigan £13m for McCarthy in 2013 with the player signing a new five year contract in 2015, McCarthy started his career with Hamilton Accies.
Wayne Rooney today completed a two year contract to return to Everton.
