Kris Boyd has become the first Real Rangers Man to question whether Pedro Caixinha can handle managing Sevco.

Tuesday’s Europa League ko from Progres Niederkorn has hit the club hard and blown apart their plans for the season.

Having banked on reaching the group phase of the Europa League there is a £6m gap in the finances that can only be filled by further soft loans from current lenders.

On the park the club has no matches arranged before the opening SPFL match at Motherwell on August 6 with the credibility of Caixinha blown apart by the defeat in Portugal and the failure of his signings to make any impact.

Lurking in the corner is a rump of players who have been dumped by the fifth best coach in Qatar but who are sitting on lengthy contracts.

Writing in The Sun Boyd asks: “Is the job too big for him? I hate to say it, but it looks like it’s heading that way.

Rangers gambled on getting through a few rounds of Europa League qualifying and maybe even reaching the group phase.

There’s no way to put a gloss on Gers’ defeat. Even fans who won’t hear a bad word against their club must realise this isn’t good enough.

I can’t see them binning Caixinha now. He’ll argue his new players need time to bed in.

I’m afraid you don’t get that time at Rangers.

I was part of a decent Gers team beaten by Kaunas in 2008, which was not great. We worked ever so hard to fix that and were in training the next day.

I’ve not seen any pictures of Gers training yesterday…”

Unusually there was no comment from Caixinha yesterday as supporters came to terms with another broken dream on the day that it was confirmed that the old club used an illegal tax scam to cheat their way to success for over a decade.

With Alex McLeish, Alex Rae and Barry Ferguson having lots of media contacts every move that Caixinha makes will be scrutinised with the vultures ready to pounce.
