Pedro Caixinha faced the wrath of the Sevco support last night after watching his side lose 2-1 on aggregate to Progres Niederkorn in the Europa League.

On social media he was the target for vile abuse while in the stadium there was only one person to blame for the humiliation of a losing out to a team that had scored once in their 13 previous European ties.

As he tried to leave the stadium 100 angry fans were lying in wait, unlike the fans at Glasgow Airport the previous day they weren’t looking for selfies.

After a day on the bevvy celebrating their cultural supremacy they weren’t in the mood to debate the tactical fine points. There was no need to produce salt and pepper pots to explain why Wesley Foderingham had jumped over a bread and butter free kick to gift the winning goal to Progres.

The mob were baying for blood and there was nothing that the sophisticated sounding Caixinha could do to placate them.

This morning it will get worse as the enormity of last night sinks in across the company.

There will be no group stage matches, no exciting qualifiers with another layer of duds added to the payroll.

Their own delusions led them to Caixinha, some soothing development ideas and impressive power-points has led to £10m of transfer investments.

When Caixinha goes the problems will remain.

Last night’s anger will only increase. Caixinha has no where to turn with only the fine details of his departure and pay off to be agreed.

As he heads back to Portugal the company are heading for a very dark place, the men that fell for and appointed Caixinha are next in the firing line for the fans as the horrible reality of their club is laid bare.
