Chris Sutton has warned Sevco that they are doomed under Pedro Caixinha.

A year ago the former Celtic striker was slammed by Ibrox fans after warning them that Mark Warburton was a one trick pony while he was being hailed as a future manager of England.

Sutton forecast that Caixinha was doomed when he said that he had the best squad in Scotland with the events of the last week confirming that prediction.

Banning green boots and plastering WATP across the walls of Ibrox had the fans roaring their approval but the 2-0 defeat to Progres Niederkorn confirmed a manager badly out of his depth.

Since losing in Luxembourg the fifth best coach in Qatar hasn’t uttered a word with Sutton highlighting how Caixinha must back up his verbals with results.

Writing in the Daily Record he stated: “It’s a reflection on a Rangers team that flattered to deceive last season under Mark Warburton and all of his big talk. A different manager is in place now but Caixinha needs to back things up if he’s going to make ludicrous statements about green boots and all of the other stuff.

Statements have to be backed up by results on the pitch and so far it hasn’t happened, albeit he inherited a mess.

To come out with the nonsense about the coloured boots only served to set him up for a fall.

Then we had the ‘We are the People’ nonsense that was trying to appeal to the hardcore section of the Rangers fans but ultimately you have to win games. So to lose against Luxembourg’s fourth-best team over two legs is astonishing.

Teams can have a dodgy result in any game but over two legs it’s not acceptable, it was a total embarrassment and put the lid on an awful week for Rangers.”

With four weeks to go until their opening SPFL fixture at Motherwell Sevco have still to arrange a single glamour friendly.
