Scott Sinclair’s wonder goal against Astana drew the acclaim of the Celtic support on a crazy night in Kazakhstan

The second half turned into an unlikely exchange of goals as Celtic briefly looked capable of losing their 5-0 first leg lead before going through on an 8-4 aggregate.

Eight minutes after an unfortunate deflection off Kristoffer Ajer had given the home side the lead Callum McGregor threaded the ball left to the former Aston Villa man.

Coming in off the flank Sinclair had only one thing in mind and duly delivered with a stinging right foot shot that the home keeper never got a look at.

It was Sinclair’s fifth goal of the qualifying campaign and was just reward for a commanding Celtic performance.

There was no drop in pace or appetite among Brendan Rodgers’ side as they set about confirming their place in Thursday’s draw for the Champions League group stage.

Sinclair and James Forrest had chances before the equaliser with the possession stat peaking at 65% as Celtic stayed on the front foot to complete the qualifying campaign in style.
