Brendan Rodgers got an especially warm welcome from Darren Fletcher when he made the journey back to Wales for Alan Tait’s testimonial match.

A team of Manchester United legends and veterans were taking on their Swansea counterparts with Rodgers fondly remembered as the man that took the Welsh side into the Premier League.

With the atmosphere relaxed Fletcher acted like any hoops fan finding themselves in the company of the Irishman who transformed Celtic in under a season.

The language might not survive the cutting room of a mainstream broadcaster but it did capture the impact that Rodgers has had on the hoops.

After 49 domestic matches Rodgers has still to experience defeat with three trophies in the boardroom and Astana standing between a second successive season in the group phase of the Champions League.

Following his brief trip to Wales the Celtic boss will be back on the training ground today preparing the hoops for a Friday night trip to Firhill.
