The BBC agenda

The agenda from the state broadcaster couldn’t be clearer.

On what possible grounds is Michael Mols relevant to the first weekend of the SPFL season?

What insight does he have into Brendan Rodgers, Derek McInnes, Pedro Caixinha or Gordon Strachan?

A man that started 113 matches over five years, the last one being 13 years ago must have been picked for a very specific reason. With no concerns about budget the BBC sent Tom English and a camera crew over to Amsterdam to fawn over Mols.

Just like an interview with Neil Doncaster at new year 2015 where the usual soft questions are concluded with an opportunity to tell licence payers that the current club from Ibrox is actually the one that went into liquidation in 2012.

The Mols interview is to push an agenda- that Celtic’s six titles are worthless. A title won without a club from Ibrox is pointless. Typically that view isn’t questioned by the BBC ‘interviewer’.

This week’s guests on BBC Sportsound include Barry Ferguson, Ian Ferguson, Alex Rae, Gordon Smith and Craig Paterson in discussion with Kenny MacIntyre.
