Celtic crashed out of the tonight- losing 3-1 away to Annan Athletic.

It was a night of misery for the young hoops who found themselves 2-0 down and playing with ten men midway through the first half.

Wallace Duffy was shown a red card in the eighth minute for striking out at an opponent with Celtic up against it from that moment.

In the 16th minute put Annan in front with the same player doubling the lead five minutes later from the penalty spot.

Celtic were stunned by that dramatic start to the action but got back into contention on the half hour when Regan Hendry curled in a free kick.

The hoops pushed throughout the second half for an equaliser but four minutes from the final whistle Smith completed his hat-trick to end Celtic’s interest in the competition at the first stage.
