Callum McGregor believes that Odsonne Edouard is ready to make his Celtic debut.

The French teenager signed a season long loan deal from PSG just before the transfer window closed to solve the mini-crisis in terms of strikers.

With Moussa Dembele is a fortnight away from a return and Leigh Griffiths injured playing for Scotland the vulnerability of the hoops strike force will be in the spotlight against Hamilton on Friday night.

James Forrest or Patrick Roberts could be put in a central role but after a week of training at Lennoxtown McGregor thinks that Edouard is ready to make his debut.

Odsonne has been in training the last few days and is a big powerful boy,” he told The Sun about the striker. “I’m sure he’ll do well.

He has come in from pre-season and his fitness levels look good. He has fitted in well with the boys.

I think he’d be ready to play. He’s looked sharp in the past couple of days at training and if the manager throws him in I’m sure he’ll do well.”

Rodgers has a number of factors to bear in mind for Friday’s match with his squad returning from international duty and having to play on their third artificial pitch in three weeks.

For some of the Scotland players it will be their fourth artificial pitch over that period with the win over Lithuania also on plastic.
