Nacho Novo has revealed that Pedro Caixinha has masterminded some brilliant training sessions.

Some cynics might suggest that the fifth best coach in Qatar set up a training session for Celtic ahead of their Champions League clash with Anderlecht but Novo was serious as he backed the Ibrox boss in The Sun.

With Sevco sitting in fifth place in the Premiership and dumped out of Europe by Progres Niederkorn it looks like being a long painful winter for whoever is in charge at Ibrox.

Novo applied for a coaching job at Ibrox but has had to settle for managing a pub on Paisley Road West.

Despite being told ‘No Thanks’ by the former Santos Laguna boss Caixinha has the full backing of the former Ibrox strike ace.

Players and managers always need time,” he told The Sun when asked about Caixinha’s future. “It is too early.

We have played seven league games. In my first year here we had eight or nine games without great results.

It is taking time but I am positive that everyone will push through. It’s not finished yet. Sometimes it is not how you start but how you finish. I see a lot of improvement in the team.

Losing to Celtic is a hard one to take but I saw some progression. I know that’s an easy thing to say but if you look at the game it was a couple of slips that led to the goals.

People will always talk about managers but I’ve been with Pedro a lot in the past three or four weeks and have watched training. It’s been brilliant and has really improved everybody.”

Sevco go to Hamilton on Friday with a number of unemployed managers looking on closely for another slip and the chance to get back on the payroll.
