Ian Bankier has described Brendan Rodgers as a remarkable catalyst.

The appointment of the Irishman in May 2016 is reflected in the club accounts to June 2017 with record turnover of £90.6m and a profit of £6.9m.

A domestic treble and the return of Champions League football sent all areas of revenue soaring with similar figures likely for the current financial year thanks to another season of Champions League football.

Rodgers has spent relatively lightly in the transfer market but almost all of his first team squad have signed new contracts since he took over from Ronny Deila.

Wring in the club accounts Bankier said: “On behalf of the Board I warmly congratulate Brendan Rodgers, his staff and the players on a truly remarkable season during which we achieved an Invincible Treble, a sixth consecutive League Championship and consecutive qualifications for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Whilst the fundamentals that were in place at the Club when he joined with his staff were strong, Brendan has been a remarkable catalyst.”

Although income and profits were increased so to were costs with expenses going up by a third to £76.3m

That figure is likely to reflect the increase in costs for the management team plus bonus payments for domestic and European success.

Sevco’s income for the year until 30 June 2016 was £22,228,000 with the accounts for the year to 2017 expected to show a modest increase in income and the need for soft loans.
