Mikael Lustig looks like missing the first leg of Sweden’s World Cup play-off.

The Celtic defender was booked during last night’s 2-0 defeat from Holland and is due to miss Sweden’s next competitive match.

UEFA have sometimes called an amnesty on bookings at this stage with Sweden hoping that they’ll be able to call on the Celtic defender for next month’s play-off’s.

Like Ireland Sweden will be unseeded in the draw meaning that they will face Switzerland, Croatia, Italy or Denmark for a place in Russia.

Sweden finished four points behind France and level with Holland on points but go through with a far superior goal difference.

Losing Lustig would be a big blow for Sweden’s hopes with the Celtic defender a veteran of campaigns going back to 2012.

In eight Euro 2016 appearances Lustig has scored three goals, according to UEFA stats he only made three tackles during his 690 minutes of action.
