Stephen Robinson has delivered an incredible put down of Pedro Caixinha.

After losing 2-0 to Motherwell at Hampden the Sevco boss claimed that his victors wouldn’t complete the final with 11 men on the park.

Caixinha and Robinson clashed on the touchline at Hampden and spent the last 30 minutes watching the action from the South Stand.

After taking responsibility for his side’s defeat on Sunday Caixinha performed a u-turn on Monday as he described his players as an embarrassment while accusing Motherwell of using tactics that would send the Scottish game backwards.

Asked about Caixinha’s prediction of a red card in the final Robinson told STV: “That’s up to Pedro, Pedro doesn’t need to concern himself about the final.

“I’m just going to concentrate on us. I’ve no problem with Pedro in any shape or form, he’s entitled to say what he needs to say. It was a physical game, from both teams.

“It’s a semi-final, of course it’s going to be physical, there’s a lot riding on it and a lot of pressure as well – as me and Pedro showed as we got sent to the stands unfortunately.

“We’ve got players battered and bruised, with ice packs on. Louis Moult has got stitches in his eye but we don’t complain about things like that, we’re just a wee, small club probably overachieving and we’ll just keep doing that.”

Motherwell and Sevco are still waiting to discover if the SFA Compliance Officer raises any disciplinary action over the various incidents missed by Steven McLean.

Reaching the final against Celtic at Hampden should bring Motherwell’s income from the Betfred Cup over the £1m mark with the club missing out on cup runs over the last couple of seasons.
