International football arrives with a thud.

After a brilliant ten days the excitement built up by Brendan Rodgers is scattered far and wide with players dispersed on international duty. Even Callum McGregor!

It’ll be a long ten days before the real thing resumes and Brendan Rodgers gets to prepare his side for Neil McCann’s Dundee.

With the weather turning for the worst autumn is here with a few landmark matches in Celtic’s history recalled.

Five years ago today something very strange happened with Celtic winning away from home in the Champions League.

After a 0-0 draw at home to Benfica Neil Lennon’s side travelled to Spartak Moscow free of expectation.

It was a bizarre 90 minutes but decisions were given in an honest manner with James Forrest and Georgios Samaras scoring against ten me.

Much much further back an entirely different Celtic side completed one of the greatest comebacks of all time.

A 2-0 defeat away to St Etienne looked like ending interest in the European Cup at the first round but goals from Tommy Gemmell, Jim Craig, Joe McBride and Stevie Chalmers secured a famous turnaround.

Red Star Belgrade were accounted for in the second round in equally memorable style but the goals dried up in February as AC Milan squeaked through on a 1-0 aggregate.

The season did end memorably with the domestic treble completed in April with John Fallon back in favour, briefly!
