Chris Sutton joined Kevin Clancy’s chorus of critics after today’s Betfred Cup semi-final at Hampden.
Celtic were leading 2-0 at the time when Martin Boyle tumbled in the box with no contact from Dedryck Boyata.
Clancy seemed to hesitate but despite being closer than his assistant he looked to Frank Connor before deciding to award a penalty.
.@btsportfootball Celtic 4-2 Hibs???? Terrific advert for the Scottish game less the horrendous refereeing decision ?? Brilliant semi final????????????

That decision threw the game wide open and highlighted again the failings of match officials who seem to want to be part of the drama rather than implement the laws of the game.
Anthony Stokers scored from 12 yards out but substitute Moussa Dembele waited just seven minutes before restoring Celtic’s two goal advantage.
Hibs sub Ollie Shaw pulled another goal back within a minute of coming on for Vykintas Slivk to put the game back in the balance but with two minutes left Dembele struck again to book Celtic’s place in next month’s final.
