Nadir Ciftci has opened his scoring account for Plymouth Argyle with a goal against MK Dons in a 5-4 victory in the reserve league.

The Celtic striker moved on loan to the League One side on August 21 but has been unable to make any impact with Derek Adams’ side struggling at the foot of the table.

Yesterday’s goal came in the Central League with Ciftci being replaced at half time by Alex Battle.

Ronny Deila signed the 25-year-old from Dundee United two years ago but a six match domestic suspension for biting an opponent created an immediate obstacle to his hoops career.

Leigh Griffiths continued to be the main man although Ciftci’s stats of four goals from five starts and seven substitute appearances appears reasonable.

In January 2016 Deila agreed to a loan deal with Eskisehirspor as he brought in Colin Kazim Richards at the same time.

With a contract until 2019 Celtic will be hoping that Ciftci can put himself in the shop window with Plymouth.
