Franck Ribery is almost certainly out of the Bayern Munich side to face Celtic in a fortnight’s time.

The midfielder suffered a serious looking injury in yesterday’s 2-2 draw away to Hertha Berlin with the club unable to fully examine it after the match.

Losing the experienced Frenchman will be a big blow for the German champions with the early indications being that it looks like Ribery could be out for much longer than the two matches against Celtic this month.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told ESPN: “There’s the injury to Franck Ribery — Franck is in real pain. We hope it isn’t too bad but it doesn’t look good.

“The doctor is investigating him. He could not examine him at first, because he had so much pain.”

Bayern were 2-0 up after 50 minutes but by the hour mark Hertha were level with Rivery and Arjen Robben both picking up injuries.

Following the defeat from Paris Saint Germain and the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti the dropped points and injuries piles even more pressure onto Bayern.

With their squad packed with internationalists caretaker boss Willy Sangol will have little to work with ahead of the October 14 match against Freiburg which is their only fixture before Celtic visit four days later.
