How can a fan turn his back on a match like that?

It was the most compelling match hosted by Celtic Park in over a year- a fortnight after going down meekly in Munich Celtic were battling Bayern toe-to-toe.

Led by three Academy bhoys Brendan Rodgers side played football of the highest quality to put the fabled German outfit ill at ease.

And yet, even before it was announced that there would be six minutes of stoppage time folk were streaming out the ground.

Of course there are a couple of folk that have very neat transport connections to make but for most fans leaving early it was to walk to their car, tune in to the game on their phone and perhaps get home ten minutes earlier than the guy sitting next to them at the match.

Season ticket holders paid £38 for the game, others paid over £50 to be there.

Pre-match it was You’ll Never Walk Alone followed by the Champions League anthem.

It’s all part of the big night but amazingly leaving early seems just as important to some fans. Do they switch off televised matches in the last ten minutes?

It really is hard to understand, Celtic have won many a European match right at the death but for who knows what reasons it seems that 90 minutes of support is just too much to ask for.
