Barry Ferguson’s ology issue

Barry Ferguson has given a bizarre explanation as to why he felt Pedro Caixinha was going to be a failure at Ibrox- he used too many words that ended in ‘ology’.

The former Rangers (IL) skipper was interviewed for the job of ‘number three’ but lost out to Jonatan Johansson as a Real Rangers Man was brought on board.

Ferguson spent two and a half years managing Clyde with no noticeable improvement at the club.

Since leaving the League Two club Ferguson has racked up his media work with the Daily Record and Radio Scotland with the need for a RRM obvious in every discussion- someone who understands the traditions of the club.

What those traditions actually are is never stated but it’s unlikely to involve bunging £2.5m into a dodgy tax scheme to tempt back midfielders from Blackburn Rovers.

Explaining his ology problem with Pedro Ferguson told the Daily Record: “I know the language barrier makes things difficult but, even so, I didn’t like the way every second word he said seemed to end in ‘ology’.

And, yes, when I walked away from our meeting I didn’t have much confidence that he was the right man to manage my old club. I must admit, I was worried that all these philosophies and methodologies were not going to end well.”

Ferguson then went on to explain why paying £800,000 to Aberdeen for Derek McInnes to stop 10-in-a-row will be money well spent.
