Celtic will be ready and prepared for Motherwell’s physical edge when they face Stephen Robinson’s side at Hampden on Sunday.

Led from the front by Louis Moult and Ryan Bowman the Lanarkshire side matched Sevco blow for blow at Hampden with almost all incidents escaping the attention of referee Steven McLean.

Bowman also escaped the eye of the SFA Compliance Officer for a clear elbow into the face of Fabio Cardoso that left the Portuguese ace with a broken nose and blood gushing from his face.

The former Gateshead striker has previous from earlier this year when he stamped out at Kieran Tierney’s knee with Rodgers preparing his side for a physical clash.

We are an aggressive team,” the BBC reported the Celtic boss saying. “You want that level of game, that level of commitment.

“You always want the officials, the referee and the fourth officials to respect the laws of the game and make sure no player is in danger within the game. But you want it competitive and I’m sure that’s how it will be.

“We’ve shown many times here playing in the league and the various cups, we’ve played against different styles – aggressive styles, footballing teams, mixed teams – and the players have coped very well with it.

“Whenever you go into any final, you have to be ready mentally for whatever the opponent throws at you. That’s something we’ll be prepared for.”

Celtic have injury concerns over the fitness of Mikael Lustig and Nir Bitton who will both be given treatment round the clock.

The hoops have still to face Motherwell this season but after Sunday’s clash they will meet at Fir Park on Wednesday then at Celtic Park three days later.
