Kris Commons put a spanner in the works of BBC Scotland last night when he told listeners that Sevco don’t have the cash to bring in a top flight manager.

Today is the start of week four of the ‘hunt’ to replace Pedro Caixinha with more exotic names being dropped into discussions.

Tim Sherwood, Gus Poet and Denning Berg are apparently interested in the job but it’s Derek McInnes and Michael O’Neill that have attracted most attention.

Sevco’s finances make for grim reading with any sensible analysis suggesting that Graham Murty is the only affordable option for a club now dependent on Dave King’s NOAL for survival.

As other panel members discussed McInnes and O’Neill, Commons brought some reality to the debate stating: ““It’s down to resources and I don’t think the resources or money are there to offer a top-class manager the money they’d get elsewhere.”

A win for Murty will see him reach three-in-a-row which is bound to further his job prospects.

Next month the fixture list gets a little more demanding with away trips to Aberdeen, Hibs and Celtic likely to provide a truer reflection of the league table.
