Olivier Ntcham sent Brendan Rodgers a brilliant reminder of his ability with a stunning goal for the French u-21 side against Bulgaria.

Moussa Dembele was substituted just past the hour mark in the 3-0 win but nine minutes from the end his Celtic team-mate stepped up to score the second goal of the night.

Ntcham’s return to form could be a timely boost for Rodgers with Stuart Armstrong and Scott Brown missing out on Scotland’s defeat from Holland due to injury.

After making a big impression following his signing from Manchester City, notably in both matches against Astana, Ntcham’s form has dipped in recent weeks.

He was harshly criticised following the 3-0 defeat by Bayern Munich but made a scoring return as a substitute in the 4-0 win over St Johnstone.

On Monday the French u21 side face Slovenia with Ntcham hoping to be involved in midweek action the following week when Celtic take on Paris Saint Germain in his home city.
