The magic of Christmas

Christmas arrived early for Jonny Hayes with one Celtic fan capturing the magic of his 67th minute (plus) goal on his phone.

In the last home match before Santa Claus puts in his annual shift, Celtic Park was lit up by mobile phones to celebrate the achievements 50 years ago of Scotland’s greatest ever team.

On the pitch it was business as usual as an impressive young Norwegian won the ball and pushed forward before passing to Scott Sinclair.

His low cross into the penalty box caused chaos in the Aberdeen defence with Hayes timing his run perfectly to slot home his first competitive goal as a Celtic player.

That goal deflated his old team mates, shortly afterwards Kenny McLean was panicked into a short pass back that Olivier Ntcham fastened onto before drawing the goalkeeper and finishing with the composure of a time served striker.

It was a magical time at Celtic Park, six days after national celebrations following a defeat at Tynecastle the hoops were eight points clear in the SPFL while the scrap for second place just got messier and messier.
