To no-one’s surprise Kieran Tierney has won the vote as Celtic’s best left-back since 1988.

Thirty years ago Celtic fans were celebrating as their team moved towards the Double in their Centenary season with little concept of the dramas ahead.

The best and worst of times were about to unfold, a brush close to administration followed within a decade by a European final.

That 30 year period has brought a number of foreign imports to the club with Tierney the first home grown player to get into the side which has been voted for by fans.

With Artur Boruc in goals the side is starting to take shape with Mikael Lustig and Tierney the full-backs with the Wishaw bhoy leading the poll ahead of Emilio Izaguirre.

Over the next couple of weeks polls will be conducted for each position, later tonight the centre-half’s will be nominated giving fans the chance to put together the best Celtic side since 1988.
