With another transfer window approaching there are bound to be a number of players slipping out the exit door.

While he has transformed a high number of players Brendan Rodgers has also successfully shifted out the door a large number of the players that he inherited.

One of them, Gary Mackay-Steven, will be back in town on Saturday hoping to follow on from the example of Efe Ambrose and score against his former employers.

It’s often said that after Celtic it’s all downhill with none of the players that Rodgers has moved on proving the hoops boss wrong in his judgement.

Next month will see more players on the move while others like Nadir Ciftci and Scott Allan are out on loan with no prospect of returning to force their way into the team.

The merry-go-round is almost underway but it’s fair to say that none of the players that departed in the summer have been missed as Rodgers begins to put his full stamp on the first team squad.

EMILIO IZAGUIRRE

After seven memorable years in Glasgow the popular defender left for Saudi Arabia, signing for Al Feiha in a deal that suited the player and Celtic.

Al Feiha are currently in 11th place in the 14 team Saudi league but the lifestyle seems agreeable to the defender and his family.

There will be no World Cup appearance at the end of the season for Izzy after Australia edged past Honduras for the final place in Russia.

KRIS COMMONS

It looks like a media carer is proving too tempting even if it involves sharing a studio with Kris Boyd.

A year ago he was about to go on loan to Hibs but despite the obvious connection with Neil Lennon there hasn’t been much talk of a return to playing.

After a couple of great seasons under Lennon it looks like his playing days have quietly petered out but he did leave plenty of memories from a great period in Celtic’s history.

EFE AMBROSE

Another who took the Lennon/Hibs connection and has been a regular at sweeper or right-back.

Every howler gets highlighted and magnified but Lennon is never one to suffer fools and knows what the Nigerian brings to the party.

His celebrations, certainly by his usual standards, were very muted after scoring against Celtic in the recent 2-2 draw.

LOGAN BAIILY

Hasn’t played for Royal Mouscon for a month after running up 12 early season appearances in the Belgian top flight.

Signed by Ronny Deila he seemed a little erratic and never really threatened Craig Gordon’s place in the Celtic side.

A pre season injury as Brendan Rodgers arrived and the signing of Dorus de Vries effectively ended his Celtic career with a return to Belgium arranged even though he still had a year to run on his contract.

GARY MACKAY-STEVEN

Made an instant impression joining Aberdeen followed by an impression of another type on the River Kelvin and the front pages.

He recovered from that adventure and some off par performances to force his way back into the plans of Derek McInnes.

Following a hat-trick last weekend against Hibs he’ll be one of the main threats to Celtic this weekend although he quickly fell by the wayside as a Celtic player.

EOGHAN O’CONNELL

Looked like he could have been a big success in the early days of Brendan Rodgers reign but a loan move to Walsall suggested otherwise.

Former Kilmarnock boss Lee Clark took him to Walsall in the close season but it was October before he made his debut with Clark dismissed at the end of that month.

O’Connell has become a regular in the Walsall defence but it looks like being a long battle against the drop from League One.
