Barry Ferguson fears that Sevco will repeat their Rugby Park performance against Celtic today.

Last Saturday Graeme Murty’s side were outfought and outplayed as Kilmarnock came back from being a goal down to take full points thanks to a late double from Kris Boyd.

The lack of passion and interest shocked Sevco fans as much as anything as they slumped to a seventh SPFL defeat of the season a week before visiting the six-in-a-row champions.

Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Motherwell restored some morale but after enduring Celtic win three times within 12 months at Ibrox today’s match isn’t one that Ferguson is looking forward to.

Last Saturday’s defeat at Kilmarnock shocked me, it wasn’t just a surrender, they were bullied,” he told the Daily Record. “That worries me.

I’ve been at Parkhead when Celtic were the stronger team and we were missing big players. It was something I relished as it was all about the mindset, nothing else mattered.

No matter who took to the pitch, we were all prepared to stand up and stand tall. What I watched was a powder-puff Rangers side at Rugby Park. Take nothing away from Killie, they were the better team.

Rangers were lucky to be leading at half-time. I still expected them to come out and steamroller Killie after the break but it was Stevie Clarke’s side who were dominant.

I was really shocked at that. Hopefully I won’t be in a similar state of shock today.”

Murty being in charge is a major issue for RRM with so many of them out of management and spending their time in the media.

Ferguson has made it crystal clear that he wants any type of job at Ibrox but like Pedro Caixinha Murts isn’t about to throw a trackie at the former Clyde boss.

I feel for Graeme Murty as this isn’t his squad, he’s trying his best with the resources he has,” Ferguson added. “What else can he do with the personnel available?

But what I don’t get is why they would only appoint him as permanent manager until the end of this season. Where is the forward planning in that?

How can Graeme go and get the players the club needs in January when he’s only the manager until the summer?

I don’t get it, the club appears unable to put a strategy geared towards the future in place.”

Maybe the club doesn’t have a future, maybe it requires EBT holders to repay the discretionary loans they got from Dave Murray to survive?
