After causing a tea-time storm the Daily Record has revealed that Moussa Dembele could be sold in January- just like every other footballer in Scotland.

On Monday the Celtic striker was on media duties mainly reacting to Celtic’s Europa League draw with Zenit St Petersburg for the broadcasters.

When he switched over to talk to the daily newspapers the topic changed to the January transfer window with speculation already about bids coming in from Brighton, Everton and Fiorentina.

Excitedly the Record ran with a Dembele quit story before having second thoughts and binning the idea.

Since he scored twice against Manchester City last September Dembele has been tipped to leave Celtic but as he approaches his third transfer window the Frenchman is taking speculation in his stride.

Unless a Champions League club comes in with offering over £30m there is no chance of interesting the player or the club but that won’t halt the speculation surrounding last season’s 32 goal marksman.

I can say it is part of the plan (to stay) – but the plan can change,” the Daily Record reported. “It can change.

As long as I am here I will give 100 per cent. I just focus on my football and give my best for the club and we will see.

For me, every day I will be coming into training. I don’t look at the media or what people are saying about me. I just focus on myself and as long as I am here I will be giving 100 per cent and we will see what will happen in the future. For now I am here.

Was the speculation difficult last season? No, not really. That was the case when I was in France too so I have been used to it.

I just get my head down and work. I have my agent and my family who take care of that and I focus on my football.

You have to focus on what you are good at it and what I am good at is playing football and scoring goals.”

Dembele is under contract with Celtic until 2020 after signing a four year deal from Fulham.
